• New cooperation partner: jaf – Verein für medienpädagogische Praxis Hamburg e.V.
• Project series continues with “Creative Gaming” and “Klickerkids”

The education project generation@ has been continued with the launch of two new follow-on projects on 18 February: Creative Gaming and Klickerkids. In a first Creative Gaming workshop, 21 ninth grade pupils at Hamburg’s Ida Ehre School discovered the creative potential of computer games. Under the guidance of media trainers from jaf e.V., they developed films from existing computer games. This was followed up by a further workshop on 21 February. As in the previous projects, Tipp24 employees were also involved in the projects as part of the company’s Corporate Volunteering programme.

The generation@ education project was jointly founded by Tipp24 SE and BürgerStiftung Hamburg in spring 2008 to teach children and adolescents about the fascination, opportunities and risks of the Internet through playing. The partners believe the development of media usage skills provides a basis for future career prospects. The nationwide Creative Gaming initiative – based on the media education work of the Hamburg media training association jaf - Verein für medienpädagogische Praxis Hamburg e.V. – is the new cooperation partner of generation@ as of 2011.

As a tried and trusted media education project, Creative Gaming gives young people a new insight into computer games. Integrated into the school curriculum, the main topics of the workshops are adapted to the respective class lessons. Further Creative Gaming workshops are already planned.

Andreas Hedrich, spokesman for the Creative Gaming initiative, says: “The involvement of Tipp24 employees is a godsend for us. It gives pupils the opportunity to discuss their ideas with industry experts before turning them into reality. People are always calling for closer cooperation between active media training and industry. This has been achieved with this particular project.”

Johanna von Hammerstein, Speaker of the Executive Board of BürgerStiftung Hamburg, agrees: “The cooperation with Tipp24 is driven by the company’s tremendous commitment. We have been cooperating on the generation@ project for three years now. During this time, we have repeatedly noticed just how important it is for children and adolescents to have reliable and competent contact partners from the world of work.”

The second project, 'Klickerkids', will be launched during the spring holidays of Hamburg’s schools. Over the five days of the project, children of nine to fourteen will produce their own Internet newspaper. Guided by the jaf e.V. media trainers, children can develop their own ideas, conduct interviews and finally produce their own website for displaying their topics – culminating in a presentation of the project to their parents and friends.
